| Maybe I should clarify:
I still have a job, I'm just transferring to another department within our company. More desk work and no more GMP or lab work.
The nice thing is that Ken and I will be working in the same building, which means we get to carpool. EVERYDAY. |

| So tomorrow will be my last day in the Fremont lab. It's been amazing to be a part of this lab in the last 2 years. I've definitely learned a lot - more than I thought I could possibly achieve. When the 3 of us analytical people started out, I know I was definitely overwhelmed by the wealth of information I had to learn. Vocabulary, way of thinking, planning, scale-ups, GMP, ... I'm not an expert yet, by any means, but I'm definitely more competent in understanding what's going on and why we take certain paths in our formulations.
Not only that, but I find myself incorporating what I do at work into what I do at home. Thanks to Felix, I've learned some good habits.
I'll miss some of the work - I like how I know what to do and how to efficiently do things. But most of all, I'm going to miss my coworkers. Benson and Felix - I've known them since UCDavis days! And I've always had good laughs with them. Lydia was a good friend - she was like an older sister to me - so helpful and knowledgeable. But I think the people I will miss the most are the two guys I worked with the most: Chris and Bernard.
Bernard and I had each other's backs since I first came to Impax. He always took me to the BART station after I got on the wrong bus to go back to the BART station (I ended up at the Fremont Hub at 8 pm on Halloween night. And the only person I could think to bother to come get me was Eugene Cheng. oman, thank you Eugene for coming to get me!) He always helped me figure out what I did wrong in B8 and challenged me to do better. In B9, he always helped me with the analytical stuff and explained things to me. He was always so encouraging too.
I didn't know what to make of Chris when I first met him. He was very quiet and seemed very serious, but the more I got to know him, the more I found he was really a funny guy. And very nerdy. He was so patient with me, encouraging me to try things, like setting up equipment or formulations or comments. He always has some funny wisecrack to say to my random comments. haha... and it was great that we were, like, the only white people in the lab.
The 3 Musketeers (L-R: Bernard, Chris, me) I think the cool thing about our group is that we have Chinese, white, and hapa. All three within our group. |
